Allen Kirschbaum

9105 Glengarry Court
Caledonia, Michigan   49316

The pastor is called by the congregation to preach, lead the congregation's education, and administer baptism and the Lord's Supper on behalf of the congregation.

Allen Kirschbaum knew he wanted to be a pastor early on in life. He sat in a fifth grade forensics tournament trying to remember the words to his first four-minute speech. It was entitled, “Who is Jesus?” He thought it would simply be a neat topic to cover. But, as the competitions continued and as the speech became easier to role off the tongue, the young boy began to realize that this speech was the start of something different. Teachers, family, and pastors began to tell him that he should seriously consider becoming a pastor.

For the last fifteen years, he has been answering this question. “Why did you decide to be a pastor?” It started with that speech, and God worked through all those people to bring him through 12 years of pastoral studies. As God’s Word grew his faith, he realized that being a pastor is much more than giving speeches. He knew that he wanted to bring God’s Word−−that Jesus lived a perfect life and died for the sins of the whole world—to everyone that he could. He wanted to bring the Gospel message that comforts the hurting and that changes lives for the present and for eternity.

Pastor Kirschbaum grew up as a child of restaurant owners from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has also lived in Arizona, Minnesota, and Missouri. His experience in the restaurant business makes him eager to relate to people of all ages and from all vocations.

His formal training for the ministry includes a bachelor’s degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and a Masters of Divinity from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin. He has ministry experience being a youth leader in different congregations and specifically serving as Vicar at St. Paul’s in North Mankato, Minnesota.

He comes to Spirit of Life with a genuine enthusiasm for his work. Above all else, he wants to preach God’s truth. However, he also wants to learn about his neighbors in Caledonia and serve them to demonstrate Christ’s love to all.

If you see Pastor Kirschbaum outside of church, he will likely be washing his car, playing basketball, or cooking new foods. He loves to try new restaurants in the area. His other hobbies include watching new movies, reading, golfing, and singing.

Pastor Kirschbaum wants to be a member of Caledonia’s growing community and will live a few miles from Spirit of Life.

Pastor Kirschbaum and the congregation welcome you to Spirit of Life.
